Jeff Bresnahan, M.B.A, FAICD

Executive Chairman

With over 33 years’ experience in the superannuation industry, Jeff has seen enormous change during this time. After more than 15 years working for and ultimately managing a number of superannuation administration and consulting firms, he co-founded The Australian Superannuation Group (TASG) in 1995. The firm rapidly grew to become the fifth largest consulting/administration house in Australia. He sold the business in April 2000.

Since founding SuperRatings in 2002, the company has quickly become recognised as a leading source of advice within the industry. Over the last 20 years, Jeff has worked with Government Departments and industry including Department of Finance, APRA, Deloittes, Sonic Health Care, Aussie Home Loans, and more than 80% of the top 50 superannuation funds in Australia.

Jeff is regularly sought out and quoted by the following media outlets including National Nine News; Today on Nine; Seven News; Sunrise on Seven; Ten News; ABC News; Sky Business News; Bloomberg; CNBC; Australian Financial Review; ABC Radio; 2UE; 2GB; 3AW; and most major newspaper, industry and online publications.

Jeff holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration and is also a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He is also regularly asked to address the Trustee Boards of many of Australia’s largest superannuation funds.

Kirby Rappell, CFA

Chief Executive Officer

Responsible for the management of the SuperRatings Research team and data. Kirby has been with SuperRatings since 2008 and spent the first three years as a Quantitative Analyst before becoming Research Manager in 2011.

Kirby is responsible for setting and overseeing the research program and developing the Analyst and Administrator team. Key tasks include the delivery of the Monthly Performance Survey, Benchmark Reporting, Asset Allocation Analysis, Fund Operating Statistics and Analysis of Fund Documents.

Kirby has driven the refinement of our Ratings model and processes, most recently including the 2013 Ratings process which encompassed more than 480 products. Kirby is heavily involved in writing and managing consultation projects, particularly in relation to product design and development, including research into MySuper products.

Kirby has a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Sydney (Finance and Accounting) and is a CFA Charterholder.

Phillip Hunt

Relationship Manager

Phillip’s role covers a number of areas including relationship management, sales and SMART training. Joining the company in September 2007, Phillip brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously worked at AMP, Zurich, Credit Suisse and overseas.

Phillip holds an Associate of ASFA accreditation (AASFA) along with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Macquarie University.

Scott Abercrombie

Manager, Consulting

Scott joined SuperRatings in February 2017 and has over 20 years’ experience in the Australian, UK and New Zealand superannuation/pension industry working across a large spectrum of products and funds, including managing superannuation compliance for one of Australia’s largest banks.

Prior to joining SuperRatings, Scott provided guidance to a large corporate superannuation Trustee on all aspects of superannuation across a range of defined benefit and defined contribution offerings. Scott has more recently led a number of consulting engagements including product development, benchmarking exercises, risk management and compliance, technical advice, strategy development, and outsourced service provider tenders. Prior to that, Scott held numerous positions within a number of Australia’s leading wealth management companies.

Scott is experienced in presenting to trustee boards on key strategic initiatives, including the selection and appointment of material service providers, member services initiatives, regulatory change, and product enhancements and has a deep understanding of the Group Life insurance market in Australia, including analysis of policy terms and conditions, and environmental factors impacting product offering and cost.

Scott holds an ASFA Diploma in Trusteeship and Insurance and is RG146 compliant.


Research


Hilde Endresen

Research Manager

Hilde joined SuperRatings in February 2012 having previously worked as an Investment Advisor and an Investment Analyst at one of Australia’s leading financial advisory firms, providing investment and portfolio construction advice to clients.

Hilde holds a Bachelor of Business Administration, a Masters of International Business and a Masters of International Relations from Macquarie University.
